Restoring the Past, Building the Future

Gracehill Old School involved the complete refurbishment and construction of a new extension to a four storey former school building to convert it into a thriving community space. Work included restoration of the roof, repairs to the windows & doors, new floors, walls & ceiling finishes and new M&E services along with complete redecoration. Facilities now include a new reception area, visitor centre for tourists, historic classroom, a restaurant, meeting rooms, offices, after-school club, wash rooms & changing facilities along with new commercial space.

The building was officially opening by Prince Charles and was profiled on BBC1’s ‘Restoration’ programme as an example of a successful refurbishment project. The building has become a focal point for economic development and community life in the village.

The client documented their complete satisfaction by stating,

Throughout the works, martin & hamilton acted in a very professional manner. The site personnel could not have been more helpful and the same must be said for the office staff with whom we had dealings during the contract period.”
