Restoring the Past, Building the Future

Ballymena North Business & Recreation Centre is a 2900 square metre facility incorporating a sports hall and changing facilities, retail & business units, playgroup provision and community meeting rooms along with a kitchen.

The project was formed as part of what was then Ballymena Borough Council’s plans to rejuvenate the areas in the Dunclug & Doury Road estates. Following a Community Audit the local people expressed the desire for affordable childcare, sport & recreational facilities and employment opportunities. The Centre was designed to respond to these needs by bringing businesses and employment into the area along with first class recreational and community facilities and a 24 place purpose built playgroup. The Centre also provides facilities for a full range of advisory services on site.

Costing £2.4m, the building includes reinforced concrete foundations, with a partial structural steel frame, cavity walls with facing block finish externally and steel composite roof sheeting. The contract included site works, drainage and site development works along with a new access road and public footpaths.
