Restoring the Past, Building the Future

The new Causeway MRI Unit is a two storey, 260sqm facility for the provision of advanced diagnostics at the Causeway Hospital site. The new building, delivered by M&H for the Northern Health & Social Care Trust, will provide advanced diagnostics that until now patients had to travel to Antrim Hospital to receive.

Construction is in piled foundations and traditional block built structure with areas of pitched and flat roofing. M&H delivered the two storey MRI Unit complete with link corridor to connect the building to the existing hospital facilities. New mechanical & electrical services were installed and commissioned fully integrated with existing hospital systems.

Works included specialist supply chain for the magnetic shielded lining to the MRI room, mechanical and electrical services required for the medical systems and install of the MRI Scanner which was lifted in by crane following construction works.

Our M&H team delivered works at the centre of the live hospital site, with careful planning and delivery to ensure no interruption to live hospital services and to minimise impact for staff, patients and visitors to Causeway Hospital.

Our Site Manager, Richard, and the project team achieved an Excellent score of 43/45 in the Considerate Constructors Scheme monitoring visit. Recognition of the care and attention to minimising works impact and delivery of community engagement initiatives that created positive impact within the hospital site and the local community.
