martin & hamilton Join New SparkSafe Initiative

30 October 2015

martin & hamilton recently signed up to the new Government-backed SparkSafe scheme to help further improve its quality management in relation to the appointment and management of electrical contractors.

Commenting on the initiative, Gerard Graham, Business Development Manager at martin & hamilton said,

As part of our supply chain management, we have always recognised the NICEIC accreditation as a means to categorise any electrical installation business as industry-approved. We view the new SparkSafe initiative as going one step further as it provides a means to not just check that an electrical subcontractor is an approved electrical installation business, but also that the individual people working for that company are licensed electrical workers. For relevant public sector projects where martin & hamilton is the main contractor, we will now be able to view each electrical worker’s qualifications and experience remotely to help ensure that only licensed electrical workers are on our projects. This will also help us comply with the new public sector construction tendering procurement policy.”

David Hamilton, Managing Director at martin & hamilton said,

As a quality-assured, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified company, we are always trying to identify new ways to improve quality control across the company. As electrical work is a key trade in the construction industry we welcome the new SparkSafe License to Practice system as a means to help us continue to improve our service and increase the health & safety standards on our projects.”
